We got to go to the zoo! I’ve wanted to do an engagement shoot at the zoo ever since their new elephant exhibit opened up- it’s got all these great set ups to play with and colorful flags and lanterns- and it did not disappoint.
Even though it was a winter engagement shoot, our time with Charisse and Chris worked out perfectly. The animals were out and active, especially Charisse’s totem animal- the giraffe, there were fewer people for us to annoy and shoot around, and most importantly Chris could be there! It’s very difficult to have engagement pictures by yourself, but Chris works on a submarine so his time in Colorado was quite limited. When you live and work on a submarine it’s not like they can make changes for one guy… if the boat (is that the right term?) is at sea, guess what, so are you. Luckily, Chris’ leave was approved for his own wedding. I’m not kidding- this was a real concern. It’s truly amazing- military families just live in a different world with concerns the rest of us take for granted.
We had a lot of fun with Chris and Charisse. They put up with our silly ideas and came up with silly ideas of their own. The elephant ears? That whimsy is all Charisse. We can’t wait for their touched-by-Harry Potter wedding, too! See you guys in March!
