Our joke about photographing at Red Rocks is that it’s perfect for winter engagement pictures because the rocks are always red. As you can see from Danah and Matt’s pictures, the light there is absolutely gorgeous in the winter too! Sometimes in the summer it can be harsh or flat or go down behind the mountain too soon. Winter is definitely when the strange beauty of the park shines, and Danah and Matt’s silly, giddy happiness shone right along with it.
One of the reasons we like to do engagement sessions for every wedding is because it builds a level of trust between us and our couples. Danah and Matt were great sports- laughing and joking and teasing each other all afternoon (you can tell that they really enjoy each others’ company!)- but even they had a few spots where they kinda looked at us funny when we asked them to step off the path into the snow or the brambles. We hope our vision shows through with the final images, the light or composition we saw at the time, and that process makes it easier for us to communicate on the wedding day.
Thank you guys again for battling with us through snow and weeds! We can’t wait to see you in April!
