There’s a quote I love, one of those internet meme-y things, that I just think sums up Elizabeth and Matt, “Forget butterflies- I feel the whole zoo when I’m with you.” In a time of irony and cynicism, there is something so wonderful about people who shamelessly express their joy and exuberance. I’m not sure there have ever been two people who were as excited to be married as these two.
Their wedding was the first time I thought we might have a bride faint- not from heat or locking her knees- but from emotion. We’d started to get ready for their first look, and I went to tell Elizabeth that I was going to go make sure everything was set and then come get her to see him. Her face blanched and she staggered, and if there hadn’t been a couple of us there to steady her… one look at Matt’s face as he waited to see her for the first time shows that his heart was doing similar back flips at that moment.
I adore that their joy extends to all things: Their family and the army of children that call them “aunt” and “uncle.” Matt is so good with his godson- it’s clear that this boy knows he is loved. Their friends and each others’ friends and joining them all together. The dance floor. Even their wedding details were about as happy and sentimental as can be.
Elizabeth and Matt, it was our honor and pleasure. You have brightened our lives, and we wish you every joy! -A&D
