Things are just crazy pants around here, but I wanted to be sure that Nanci and Curtis could see their preview as soon as possible! We loved photographing this big Italian wedding, from the beautiful Catholic cathedral perched high over Colfax, to the Frank Sinatra impersonator during the reception, to the homemade wedding treats made especially by Nanci’s grandmother- this was one over the top Italian experience! Even the catering, done so well by our friends at Relish, was served family style for that big family feeling.
And while it can be an adventure in transportation, I love weddings that have lots of different locations. It gives us so many photography opportunities! We started with the big courtyard and beautiful lobby at the downtown Denver Embassy Suites. After the ceremony, we headed with the wedding party over to Civic Center park. We had thought to take photos in the Greek amphitheater there, but it was full of prospective Ninja Warriors, and that just won’t work. Instead we went modern and headed over to the library and the Denver Art Museum. When Curtis saw all his guys posed on the big red sculpture there, he spread his arms wide like a mafia Don and said with a smile, “I love a big wedding party.” It was clear that both he and Nanci really love all their family and friends.
The reception was held at Cielo at Castle Pines, and luckily Nanci and Curtis got to enjoy their beautiful outdoor space before our crazy Mother’s Day huge snow storm. Nanci’s pretty blue, and extremely sparkly, design was brought in full force by Elisabeth Montoya and her team. One of my favorite memories of the reception was when Nanci and Curtis’ grandmas (who had become best friends over the wedding events) got up to dance together to” New York, New York” spontaneously. It was adorable.
A special thank you to AdamFusion Films for being kick butt, super great to work with videographers!
Congratulations again, Nanci and Curtis! It was a joy and an honor to be there for your wedding.
